THOUGHTS OF FEMOLAD:THE BIRD IN THE CAGE AND THE FREE FLYING BIRD

THE BIRD IN THE CAGE AND THE FREE FLYING BIRD

The bird in the cage looks at the one flying around and thinks; “What an unfortunate fellow”.

So easy is it to write him off as the stupid one.

That is if you don’t try to peek into the thoughts of the caged one.

He lives in the comfort of a house not bothered, unlike his free counterpart, by the elements. No rain, no sun. No harsh weather.

Our caged friend does not have to hassle for food. A man provides it, and even serves him. He is not even in any form of competition for the food that is provided. His free contemporary has to find his own food.

His feathers are not ruffled by raging predators. He feels secure in his cage. There is not the least jostle for space or facility. His flying friend does not have the same luxury.

If and when he falls ill, a man gets headache and brings another man wearing a white coat to ease his pains. He envisions a better life assurance.

But his friend is FREE, a real bird in the sky, in its natural habitat. Free to fly high or low and to go anywhere it feels. Like in an old song, knows what a feeling to fly over mountains and forests and seas is.

After some time cohabiting with the ones who want to prey on him, he learns to avoid and beat his enemies.

With the abundance of fresh unprocessed food out there he stays in good health.

Your view depends on which side you are standing on.

In Business, Politics, Governance and everyday life, human equivalents of the two birds abound.

Between being a slave in a palace and being a king in a small village, some will gladly choose the former.

Not having the guts to take on challenges, such people would rather become subservient to a stronger-willed person. They don’t endeavor to create a niche for themselves. They would rather keep live under the shadow of “The Master”

Because their lives depend on the whims and caprices of others, they strive to always please their benefactors.

They become Sycophants and Praise Singers. The intellect and energy they could have used to develop themselves they expend clowning to attract attention of the oga at the top.

The ones who chose to be flying birds in the wild risk a lot. Survival is herculean but trains the body and the mind. They learn to fend for and provide for themselves, and even others.

Unlike those dependent on others for life and wellbeing, they are survivors.

They have principles and are self-opinionated.

They can stand thick and thin.

The caged birds don’t have a life of their own. They lack ideas and integrity. They wait on their benefactors for even every essence of life. They feel they are in their comfort zones. They don’t learn to grow and build. They remain stagnant. I have known men and women who spend the better part of their lives being in someone’s cage. Even when that cage fails, they can’t fly. They prefer to look for another cage where they can be fed.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS.

You can choose to be a caged bird enjoying perfunctory comfort and appreciate the freedom of the flying bird.

You may also see your perfumed slavery as the ultimate.

But as for me, TELL ME FREEDOM.

I am

Good analogy. A free bird is a risk taker. Either success or failure, she is able to form her own identity and not under others identity. I choose to be a free bird.
