NEWS: JOY AND JUBILATIONS AS MAKINDE ALLY, AKIKA REGAINS FREEDOM. IT WAS PRAYERS ANSWERED...FEMOLAD

The city of Ibadan went into jubilation mode on Wednesday when news filtered into town about the release of Agbaakin Benedict Akika from the den of kidnappers.

Akika was kidnapped by unknown gunmen at his residence a week ago and taken to an unknown destination.

The kidnap was reported by this magazine on 5th September as a great shock to the people of Oyo State.

Friends, well wishers, political associates especially members of his Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF) went into prayer sessions for the freedom of the philanthropist gentleman.

Speaking on hearing the news of his release, the publisher of this magazine Femi Ladapo (Femolad) described the news  as an answer to the prayers of people who cried up to God. He described Benedict Akika as a man who chose to look backwards and give back to humanity. Such a man, he said, does not deserve to go through the kind of trauma he just went through.

Reacting, some observers enjoined governments at all levels to take the issues of kidnapping, terrorism and banditry seriously and be proactive in tackling the menace.

A leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Egbeda Local Government of Oyo State, Chief Jumoke Lawal,(AKA Iya Pineapple) on hearing the news, thanked God for the freedom and prayed that God will grant Akika quick recovery from both the physical and psychological trauma Bene (as he is popularly called) has gone through.
