DEMO-SENSE WITH IDRIS ISMAIL
UNCAGING THE BEAUTIFUL BIRDS
My desire for the young
people is to have a mind of their own without being transactional and
permanently tied to apron strings of leadership that want to use and dump.
Our understanding of
politics should graduate from blind loyalty to constructively loyalty.
We should be committed to
any political gladiator to the extent that such a gladiator is committed to the
greater good of the state and her people.
Therefore, the more of us a
political gladiator should have in term of support and loyalty is corollary to
the most contribution he or she makes to the development of human and
infrastructure in the state.
The young people should
understand that their numbers and potentials count in any nation that desire
development.
It is enough to negotiate
with this population of young vibrant and resourceful young people. It will
rather be disgraceful to trade away the asset in you for crumbs in the hand of
any political gladiator. It is tantamount to mortgaging a virile and robust
future for peanuts.
Young people should not
lower their 'price' nor reduce their worth in the name of loyalty and support
for any political gladiator.
It is rather supposed to be
a mutual relationship that will not undermine your future or mortgage your
aspirations.
What is particularly
worrying about the greed and other frivolities and negative tendencies that
drive the youth demand for a better future? It is quite worrisome that some of them
have enlisted themselves as foot soldiers of their own operations in the name
of loyalty to political gladiators.
The uncensored loyalty to
political gladiators some of who consumed the various universities they are supposed
to have attended.
Those who consumed the
high-class hospitals where they are supposed to have been taken care of.
Those who refused to
construct the very good road they are supposed to have been safe traversing.
Those who looted away the secured
society that is supposed to have given them peace of mind.

Those who traded off housing
provisions that is supposed spare them the headache of accommodation as they are
settling down.
I challenge the young people
to look around the world and see how the young people are negotiating better
and constructive future for themselves and leading the world from their own
space, adding value to their own society without the slavery-type of
relationship with political gladiators.
Study how they manage
distractions and frivolities and the richly conversion of potential to a
generational advantage .
I think this is possible.
We should remember today
will be exhausted but tomorrow will always be.
