POLITICS or CHOPITICS? ITS A CHOICE

POLITICS or CHOPITICS?

People are in politics for different reasons.

Some people are in politics because they "want to chop". Such easily become "professional politicians". They have no ideologies or principles. Its all about the pocket and the stomach.

Many of them are in politics because there is no other outlet. They have been either un-educated or mis-educated, hence gainfully unemployable. I once asked a new acquaintance what he did for a living. He said he was a politician by profession.

There are others who do it because of the zeal to use the competencies and capabilities they have acquired for development of the society.

They are the professionals in politics. They are different from the ones they call technocrats, who are actually not politicians. This class of people have distinguished themselves in one profession or business. They want to contribute. They are principled and are usually not yes-men.

Choosing who to align with also depends on which of the categories above you belong to.

Political Association or allegiance is by choice, not by default. You don't just find yourself in a group. You chose to be there.

There again, what informed your choice is germane. Did you go there because you think its your best opportunity to "chop"?  It is however NOBLE to be in a group because you have a common mindset and vision. That way it does not matter if there is something to "chop" or not.

You are there because you want to be there, not because some social and economic circumstances compelled you.

If one day the visions you saw in the association fades out and your ideals no more tally with that of the group, you have a choice to make.

You could stay whining and pining, hoping against all hope for a change. To me that is being ideologically lazy.

You could also choose to find your own clime. You could choose to ply your trade with people who sell similar or same products. A place where you will be comfortable psychologically.

Reducing politics or political association to what is there to "chop" is base and puerile.

It should be more about service and impact than "chop"ing.

I speak not against reward and gratification.

My take is about placing the 'chopping' above service and performance. My grouse is with thinking the only reason for being in any group or association is the CHOPability index.

If this is the norma then there wouldn't be opposition to government.

Reward for excellence is right and required, I agree.

Majority in government today practice CHOPitics and not politics.

That is why we are where we are.
