LADOJA CONFIRMS OLAKULEHIN HALE AND HEARTY: READY FOR CORONATION
The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja
has confirmed the first public appearance of Olubadan designate, Oba Owolabi
Olakulehin.
Olakulehin was scheduled to meet with the kingmakers in
Ibadan on Friday.
The former state governor, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja is now
the second in the hierarchy to the incoming Olubadan of Ibadanland.
High Chief Ladoja in a telephone conversation reportedly
said, “Baba ti de” meaning “Baba is around.”
Oba Owolabi Olakulehin’s non-appearance coupled with his
rumour state of health has sparked off arguments among the stakeholders in
Ibadanland including the members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
Some of the kingmakers in an interview said his nomination
cannot be done in absentia.
He is currently at his private residence at No 1, Cassia
Street, Alalubosa Government Reserved Area in the Ibadan South West Local
Government Area of the state.
Oba Olakulehin was until the demise of the late Olubadan,
Oba Senator Lekan Balogun, the Balogun of Ibadanland, second in the hierarchy
on the throne of Olubadan.
The Olubadan Advisory Council will forward his name as their
nominee to the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for approval.
Olubadan Advisory Council has confirmed the health status of
the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as they submitted that he is fit
to be crowned as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Oba Adebimpe was at the Alalubosa GRA residence of Oba
Olakulehin in the company of three other Obas on Friday. accompanied by Osi
Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole; the Ashipa Olubadan, Abiodun Kola-Daisi; Asipa
Balogun Olubadan, and Oba Kola Adegbola.
Oba Adebimpe in a brief interview with newsmen confirmed that
it has been long since they met with the Olubadan designate.
According to him, ”It is been some time since we have seen
our Kabiyiesi Owolabi Olakulehin in our midst. and we have been making
arrangements for the coronation of our new Olubadan of Ibadanland.”
“It is impossible for you to coronate somebody until you are
assured and convinced that he is active.
“We are making our arrangements. We have come to pay a visit
to him to see that he is hale and hearty. We will relay what we have seen to our
colleagues. “We thank God, he is hale and hearty. By the Grace of God very
soon, he will ascend the throne of his forbears.”
Oba Owolabi Olakulehin’s nomination process, as reliably
informed may commence next week.
Visitors have continued to throng his residence while Royal
drummers are having a field day.
