OLUROYE MARKS 20 YEARS ON THE THRONE AS IROKO- EKITI HONOURS PROMINENT NIGERIANS.


Saturday, 20th April, 2024 saw pomp and pageantry like never before in Iroko Ekiti as the reigning Monarch celebrated twenty years on the throne. His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday Adebanjo Kayode Ekundayo JP, Orubuloye II, The Oluroye of Iroko Ekiti in Ekiti State, also conferred Chieftaincy titles on some prominent Nigerians, who have made valuable impact on the human and infrastructural development of the ancient town of Iroko-Ekiti.

Among these distinguished personalities was Hon. Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, who bagged the title of Otunba Mayegun of Iroko-Ekiti.

Babanumi, a seasoned health practitioner, is the CEO of Olwen Healthcare Limited, Olwen Money Remittance Limited and Olwen Enterprises Nigeria.  A known Unionist in the U.K. and an astute politician, he is both a philanthropist and great family man.

Omo Oba Abiodun Adeolu Adegbite, was conferred with the title of Otunba Fiwajoye of Iroko Ekiti.

Abiodun, an accountant based in Canada, is also an Immigration Expert of note. He is the CEO of Aqualink Hotels and Aqualink Consulting. He is a businessman par excellence, a great philanthropist and a bridge builder.

Chief Victor Abidemi Abolarinde was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Fiwasaye of Iroko-Ekiti. A pilot by training, Abolarinde is the CEO of Bola Healthcare Services, Canada. He is passionate philanthropist and businessman with a Midas Touch.

Hon. Mrs Oladunni Dada, conferred with the title of Yeye Atunwase of Iroko Ekiti, was born in Ijero Ekiti. She is a successful professional Medical Laboratory Technologist who had worked with the Ekiti State Healthcare Agency before becoming a Health Educator and business woman.

The Kabieyesi, Oba Sunday Adebanjo Kayode Ekundayo JP, Orubuloye II, The Oluroye of Iroko Ekiti expressed his delight at having the privilege of conferring the Chieftaincy titles on these distinguished Nigerians who have displayed selfless service and support towards the development of Iroko-Ekiti.

In reaction to the recognition granted to the recipients, Chief Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, the Otunba Mayegun of Iroko- Ekiti, on behalf of others expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Kabieyesi whose quest for communal human and infrastructural development is the catalyst that inspired them to contribute their little contribution. He promised that the chieftaincy awards are a challenge to him and others not to relent in their efforts to do more.

The colourful event that brought more colours and fanfare to the town of Iroko-Ekiti was witnessed by prominent Nigerians from different walks life.

Visitors from home and abroad witnessed the conferment of honours.

Baptist Grammar School, Ibadan Old Students Association (BAGOSA), the Alumnus of both the Kabiyesi and Chief Babanumi was represented by members including Ogbeni Femi Ladapo, Pastor Peter Chukwueluka, Engineer Lekan and a host of others.

The traditional ceremony was followed by a Thanksgiving Service at the Anglican Church in Iroko Ekiti. Prayers were offered for the celebrant, the awardees and guests.

A well-attended reception followed, where guests were entertained to food and drinks, accompanied by music and entertainment.
